Oily hair is defined as having a greasy appearance from the second to the third day following shampooing.
The oiliness is brought on by the sebaceous glands on the scalp secreting sebum. Androgens, which are found in trace amounts in women, regulate sebum secretion. Women's hair will be greasier during menstruation, and sebum secretion begins during puberty. Even though you wash your hair frequently, the oiliness of your hair gives the impression that it is stringy and unclean. Oil on the scalp is essential for maintaining its health, preventing split ends and other hair damage, and giving the hair a nice sheen. Dandruff and itching can be caused by oily hair.
Causes of Oily Hair :
Several factors are responsible for the excess secretions of oil from the sebaceous glands. Some of them are
- Heredity
- Hormonal fluctuation in women due to menstrual cycle, use of birth control pills, etc.
- Stress
- Excessive consumption of oil rich food
- Poorly adapted hair care
Care for Oily Hair :
Make a mixture out of one cup of henna powder to which one tablespoon of lime juice has been added, and mix into it the white of an egg. If the egg smells bad to you, use curd instead of the white of an egg. Apply this mixture to the hair, keep it for approximately half an hour, and then shampoo. A point to note is that this pack will not color your hair despite the dyeing quality of henna being an ingredient.
